Schmakel Smile Design celebrates 6 years in new building

On October 1, Schmakel Smile Design marked six years at its N. Holland Sylvania Road location.

“I can’t believe it’s been six years; the building still looks brand new,” said Dr. Larry Schmakel, DDS. “We were in downtown Toledo for over 20 years, and we were the last general dentist in downtown Toledo.”

Schmakel Smile Design is a full service dental facility offering cleanings, fillings, Invisalign braces, extractions, crowns, teeth whitening, veneers, treatment for gum disease, and many other services.

Additionally, Schmakel Smile Design recently began offering custom-made oral appliances to help those who suffer from sleep apnea and snoring and cannot wear a CPAP device.

“Fifty percent of the people out there cannot wear a CPAP; they’re not tolerant; and they can suffer, have a shorter life and have heart attacks without anything to help them,” Dr. Schmakel explained. “The oral appliance moves their jaw forward and helps them breathe better. People are happier; they’re not snoring; and they’re back in the same bedrooms again.”

Dr. Schmakel also offers Botox and Juvéderm treatments to help patients further enhance and improve their smiles.

“I’ve also been extensively trained over the last several years to do Botox and dermal fillers,” he said. “We enhance the smile. If you have a really pretty smile, and you have other issues going down that don’t enhance it, we can fix things up.”

Dr. Schmakel uses Botox and Juvéderm to address features such as downturned corners of the mouth, nasolabial folds, crow’s feet and what’s known as the 11s or frown lines between the eyes and above the nose.

Those interested in learning more about Botox and Juvéderm can attend Schmakel Smile Design’s “night of beauty” on November 5 from 6 to 9 p.m.

“We’re going to be doing Botox for existing patients and other people who are interested in Botox. We’ll do dermal filler evaluations, and we can bring them back for any kind of dermal fillers that are necessary,” Dr. Schmakel said. “It’s a fun night. We’ll have snacks here; we’ll have beverages; it’s a nice, social event. If you have any questions about our special night of beauty, please call Renee at (419) 841-9494.”
