At China Palace, the food is all about tradition
By Chris Galford- Good food often comes built on the graces of tradition and culture. It is as integral a part of cultural identities as any boundaries perceived or dialects engrained. At China Palace, owner Tony (Just Tony) has taken what he calls traditional Chinese food and customized it to his diner’s desires.
“We started this ourselves in 2006,” Tony said. “We’ve never changed our menu.”
That menu has done the restaurant well, with favorites like General Tso’s Chicken, orange chicken and handmade spring rolls. In the case of the rolls, they are made in house every morning. Given that the restaurant also happens to be open seven days a week, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on weekends, that makes for a lot of rolls, and plenty of other dining options to boot.
In fact, while Chinese food is not necessarily spicy by nature, Tony has no problem customizing the heat in the kitchen to his customer’s needs. Thai food might have the spicier reputation, but one can never count out the capabilities of a kitchen willing to cater to its customers’ requests.
