The Elbo Room in Toledo back in business with new owner
By Matthew Kent- The Elbo Room in Toledo has a long history, but current owner Marcie Wade is looking ahead to the future in providing a place where customers can come enjoy themselves.
Marcie took over the business located on West Alexis Road in May after seeing it was up for sale. The establishment had been in operation for over 50 years before she decided to take it over, Marcie said.
Among the most popular items it has become known for is the pizza, which has become a top seller. Ten-inch cheese pizzas are available for $6.25 with additional toppings for $1.
“We make our own dough and roll our own dough,” Marcie said. “I bought it because of the recipe. It’s been around for years.”
Marcie, who wants people to know the business is up and running again, has also managed to maintain prices, despite seeing some costs go up with her food expenses. Those costs, she said, are something she doesn’t want to pass along directly to her customers.
“I’ve tried not to, so we’ll see how that goes,” Marcie said.
The restaurant also offers happy hour specials with $1 drafts from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and $2 bottles from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and a beer brunch that includes a burger, fries and a draft beer for $5. The business, which also offers carryout services, is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
