Lievens Market & Outdoor Living to host Charity Fall Fest Oct. 10-11

As many are gearing up to hand out tricks and treats this autumn, Lievens Market & Outdoor Living is taking things in a different direction, throwing a Charity Fall Fest for local kids that also aims to give back to families in need.

On Oct. 10 and 11, Lievens Market & Outdoor Living will host an assortment of camel rides, hay rides, children’s face painting and a mini-petting zoo. Additionally, 10 percent of the sales from the retail side of their business that weekend will go to the Danbury Treasure Chest — a charity fund set up to help families with medical bills for their children, according to one of the partners in Lievens, Chad Lievens.

The Lievens Market & Outdoor Living is a retailer of plants, produce and gifts. Having grown out of a third generation farm, it is the first location of what Chad hopes to be a successful retail outlet.

“We grow all of our plants in Ottawa Lake, Mich., and have a wide variety of just about everything. We have pumpkins, mums, anything fall. Produce also. We have a lot of gift items. I travel a lot in the winter, when we’re closed, and I try to find unique items — I look locally also, for anything that’s handmade and unique that the box stores don’t carry,” Chad said.

Among those curiosities are things like fire rings and a bull grill. That’s not to say a grill for roasting bulls, but a grill in the shape of a bull, with smoke pouring out its overworked nose. The store carries antiques and outdoor fire pits — a particularly popular item in the autumn, according to Chad.

“People like to sit around and make s’mores,” said Chad.

In addition to acting as a supplier, Lievens Market & Outdoor Living also serves as an installer with certain items, like its multitude of fountains. Delivery and installation are offered with the purchase.
