Sunflowers blossom on the tables at Deez Diner
By Chris Galford
Normally known for its chili mac — a dish which, according to Diana, is a holdover family recipe from her father, the area’s original hot dog Johnny — Deez has been a seven year staple in Toledo. With hours from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. during the week and 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. on the weekends, it normally aspires to enthralling its guests’ taste buds.
Yet in September, the diner also lit senior citizens’ faces with smiles as they offered flowers to the unsuspecting patrons. Working in association with the Lyons Lucky Leaders 4-H Club and sponsored by First Local Toledo members, they took a day to give something back, and help the communal atmosphere flower.
