Sunflowers bedeck the cloths at American Table on Glendale
By Chris Galford
For the eighth Sunflowers for Seniors event and the capstone of its third season, the floral donations of the Lyons Lucky Leaders 4-H Club headed to the tables of The American Table restaurant on Glendale.
Taken over by owner Harry Elmazha on August 1, 2014, American Table provides a slew of homemade goodies, with its roasted chicken foremost on the menu. Sunflowers for Seniors isn’t the only way this restaurant has given back to the community, though, as Harry tries to support local churches and schools with his restaurant as well. It is open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and Sundays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
With this final event, Sunflowers for Seniors was able to push its donations of bouquets to more than 500 this year. It was only through local businessmen like Harry and the supporters of both First Local Toledo News and the Lyons Lucky Leaders 4-H Club that such a feat was possible, though.
