Fall Family Fun: Stevens Gardens

Wendy Cornett

Stevens Gardens in Monclova offers family friendly fun for young children and older thrill-seekers alike.

Hayrides, plus a corn maze, corn cannon, straw maze and a cow train provide entertainment for all ages.

“Kids love our cow train, but then again, so do a lot of adults,” said owner Debbie Stevens-Laux. “We have adult-sized cars so that anyone can ride.”

During weekends after dark, creatures of the night haunt both the hayride and the corn maze for those seeking added thrills and chills.

The family-owned and operated farm has been part of the Stevens family for generations.

“The farm has been in our family since the 1950s,” Debbie said. “My grandmother bought it from her cousin, and my dad bought it from my grandmother, and then we bought an acre from my parents and built next door, so we’re still on the farm I grew up on.”

The farm offers a full selection of fall décor, including pumpkins, gourds, Indian corn and much more. Refreshments include the farm’s well-known Apple Cider Slush, plus kettle corn, caramel apples, donuts and fudge.

Located at the intersection of Monclova and Weckerly roads, Stevens Gardens is easily accessible from Anthony Wayne Trail or Airport Highway.

“Come out and see us at the farm!” Debbie added.

Fall hours at Stevens Gardens are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, with extended evening hours until 10:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays through Halloween night. Visit the farm’s Facebook page – updated regularly – for the latest news on events, hours and products.
