Executive Diner offers patrons Mediterranean breakfast, lunch items
By Matthew Kent
Hassan Hassan knows his way around a restaurant after serving as the general manager of Charlie’s Restaurant, but ultimately decided to lay out his own path to success by opening his own diner.
Hassan purchased Executive Diner in Toledo two years ago and eventually moved forward with opening Executive On the Main, located in Sylvania, this past February. Hassan has also made it a family operation with his wife, brother, and sisters all playing an active role in its success. Among the foods are Mediterranean, Mexican, and traditional breakfast and lunch dishes, which include hummus and grape leaf platters, and Mexican quesadillas.
In addition, the diner also serves Greek omelettes, which come with tomatoes, onions and gyro meat that are all sautéed with feta cheese and served with home fries, according to Hassan. The two best-selling items at the restaurant are Greek omelettes and Divorced Eggs, which are two corn tortillas with refried beans topped two sunny-side eggs and a choice of Chorizo, marinated grilled chicken, or steak fajita meat, and smothered with cheese and red and green salsa.
The business is open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and offers daily specials. Due to his success, Hassan is already looking ahead to possibly expanding to a third location. “In the next year or so, we plan on opening one more or so,” he said.
