In just one year, Paddy Jack’s has aimed to establish four restaurants and grow a franchise.

The establishment and growth of the Paddy Jack’s restaurant has proved a swift learning experience for its staff and owners.

“In the beginning we definitely wanted to be known as a sports bar, have TVs and a great place to watch the game. Then as we started opening we had a ton of support from a lot of the families,” said Jennifer Hurst, one of the restaurant’s managers.

Thanks in part to a supportive community, the restaurant, first established almost one year ago in Toledo, Ohio, rapidly evolved from an Irish-themed sports bar to a restaurant for all ages.

We’re just trying to hit every single age and every single person. There’s something here for everyone,” said Brook Varwig, another manager.

In that one year, the restaurant has done more than merely adapt, however. It has also been growing. With the ultimate goal of establishing a franchise, Paddy Jack’s reach has since spread to Sylvania, Ohio, and Ottawa Lake, Mich., with a location in Maumee, Ohio, set to open before football season.

While such speedy expansion can cause difficulties for some businesses, Brook notes the problems Paddy Jack’s has encountered have been overall positive ones.

“Needing to hire more people, being busy, so it’s just a lot of good, positive things that have come our way,” Brook said.

Part of the restaurant’s appeal is embodied in how it reaches out to families. Last month, the restaurant established that every day of summer children up to 12 years old would eat free.

At the same time, they appeal to older crowds as well, with 14 beers on draft and nine Irish whiskies, as well as Monday through Friday happy hours to take advantage of them. Their menu is geared toward sandwiches, with about 40 sandwiches offered up on four different types of bread.
