Waterville restaurant Chowder’s ‘N Moor celebrating 12th anniversary

Chowder’s ‘N Moor opened its doors 12 years ago and since then, the Waterville restaurant has become known for the variety of soups and other food items it offers.

The business is owned by Tina and Tom Kuron and will be celebrating their 12th anniversary July 15. Chowder’s ‘N Moor offers award-winning soups, which include white chicken chili and clam chowder.

Word has gotten out about the restaurant due to a large number of loyal customers, according to Tom. The restaurant’s white chicken chili has resulted in recognition after named “Best Soup” by Toledo City Paper three years in a row.

Chowder’s ‘N Moor also offers appetizers, sandwiches, perch and a handful of Caribbean dishes to customers who walk through the door.
“Perch is probably one of our biggest sellers,” Tina said. “All of our soups are homemade.”
Tom added that there are a few new additions to the menu, including crawfish, and customers can come in during the week for various specials that are offered. On Mondays, tacos are 99 cents each, while margaritas are $2.

In addition, half-pound burger specials can be found on Tuesdays with fries and coleslaw for $6.99 at Chowder’s ‘N Moor, which attracts both old and new visitors.
“We get the same people that come in from out of town,” she said. “We got people that come from Maine, we’ve got people that come from Michigan.”

Tom said although the business may be small, he realizes people enjoy and patronize Chowder’s ‘N Moor because it offers good food. However, lunch and dinner items aren’t the only things that can be found as the restaurant also offers breakfast as well, including a special for $3.99.
“Breakfast seven days a week, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. every day,” Tina said. “We make our own sausage gravy from scratch, we’ve got pecan-glazed French toast, we’ve got frittatas, which are a new popular thing and homemade jams.”

Tina added that they are trying to let people know that they are open for breakfast since many individuals aren’t aware that it is offered. Tom also described the restaurant’s atmosphere as being relaxing where people can feel they are on vacation while being able to eat soup, grilled sandwiches and seafood.
