Swanton restaurant Barron’s Cafe offers patrons variety of meals
By Matthew Kent
Barron’s Cafe has been a family-owned operation for over 20 years, but it wasn’t until six years ago that current owner Art Cavazos took over.
The restaurant based in Swanton started in 1990 and was run by two of Art’s sisters in the 1990s before one of them decided to pass on operations to him. Art then decided to buy out the Mexican restaurant after the passing away of a family member who had a 50 percent stake in the business.
Art recently decided to freshen up the look of the business in the last few months and believes his business is one that is unique. Much of the food that is offered at the restaurant is based on recipes Art’s mother developed with the business offering a variety of items.
“We have lunch specials everyday Monday through Friday and then we have a monthly special … and a beer of the month,” he said.
Among the lunch specials offered include cheese enchiladas with a side of beans, cheese nachos, ground beef tacos and enchiladas, among others. In addition, Barron’s Cafe also offers happy hour specials during the week all day long.
Art also said the business has received support from surrounding communities.
“We get a lot of people from Delta and especially Swanton,” he said. “Their support is real good.”
