Bennett Management Corp. celebrates 50 years in business

Fifty years ago, founder of Bennett Management Corp. (BMC), Bob Bennett, saw enormous potential in an 11-year-old company we know today as Burger King. Bob was very intrigued by the founder’s new concept in food service. Bennett Management grew from the first restaurant opened in Kalamazoo, Mich. in 1966 to 26 Burger King restaurants, operating in the tri-state area of Ohio, Michigan and Indiana. The family- owned business has been a franchisee of Burger King Corporation for 50 years. They are headquartered in Arrowhead Park, Maumee.

Mr. Bennett’s philanthropic endeavors began in 1965 and grew as the business grew. While supporting numerous area charities, his commitment to education was evident both on and off the field. Burger King gives its support to nearly 700 schools and libraries and sponsors many team sports and local sporting events. His picture hangs in the Toledo Seagate Center for BMC’s support of the Toledo Athletic Hall of Fame.

In 1978, the Irish Open Golf Tournament was born. As a sponsor of the annual golf tournament and Burger King coupon drive at Toledo’s Central Catholic High School, BMC helped to provide millions of dollars in tuition assistance over the years.

In addition to providing strong educational support, BMC believes in being involved and giving back to the communities in the three states in which they operate. The Boy Scouts, Easter Seals, Lucas County Children Services, Historic St. Patrick’s Food Pantry and the military are just a few of the many organizations supported by the company.

The company is also very proud of the many team members who have made successful careers at Bennett Management and of those who took their strong business foundations on to new endeavors.

Mr. Bennett passed away in May of 2013 but the strong ethics, values and principals upon which he founded the company remain an integral part of the corporate culture. The set of values that he instilled upon the employees, past and present, are still at the heart of the company today.

From hourly team members to managers and office staff, the people of BMC continue to embody the commitment of Connecting, Appreciating, and Respecting Everyone. It fulfills the company’s mission of being the “best in the service business.”
