Arturo’s Fritz & Alfredo’s celebrates 1-year anniversary at new Holland location
By Chris Galford-
Call it chance or call it accident that made it happen, but one year ago this month, Arturo’s Fritz and Alfredo’s made its way into Holland with a mash-up of German and Mexican cuisine. The result of a transfer from the original Fritz and Alfredo’s — founded in 1992 — Arturo Cavazos’s restaurant is a family venture with some eclectic offerings.
Of course, fans of the old location won’t be disappointed either.
“Everything’s the same,” said Arturo, whose sister and brother-in-law founded the original location. “The menu’s the same. Cooks are the same. The servers are the same. Same phone number. Only difference is the address. We still have the German food — it’s actually selling a whole lot better here than it did there. My kids help me out a lot, and my wife does all the paperwork.”
The German side of things includes sauerkraut, veal, cured pork chops and spätzle, amongst other dishes, while the Mexican end of the menu is littered with dishes like enchiladas, burritos, taco and homemade tamales. The mix came together as a result of the couple that founded it — Arturo’s Mexican sister and his German brother-in-law.
It’s more than mere tastes that have been passed onto the customer, though; every day of the week also comes with its own lunch specials — one for the German side and one for the Mexican.
